Who's eligibile to apply?

• Graduating high school seniors from the East End of Houston.  Students from Stephen F. Austin, Milby and Cesar Chavez areas of Houstion, Texas, are eligible to apply.  Students who attend other schools, including East Early College High School, and live in the Austin, Milby or Chavez areas, are also invited to apply. 
• Students who do not receive significant funds from other scholarships.   Students with more than $4,000 in scholarships are ineligible. 
• Students entering their first year of college
• Students interested in vocational schools, e.g. cosmetology, are eligible.
• Legal immigration status is not required.

What are the potential scholarship awards?

• Awards are up to $1,000 
• Available for the first year of college only
• Available to students without significant other funds for college

What are the important dates and locations?

• Applications must be postmarked by April 28th, 2012
• Required interview on third Saturday in May (May 19th, 2012)
• Awardee reception in the fall
• All interviews and receptions held at Ripley House Neighborhood Center
• All scholarship funds disbursed through Ripley House Neighborhood Center
