Who's eligibile to apply?

• Graduating high school seniors from the East End of Houston.  Students from Stephen F. Austin, Milby and Cesar Chavez areas of Houstion, Texas, are eligible to apply. 
• Students who do not receive significant funds from other scholarships.   Students with more than $4,000 in scholarships are ineligible. 
• Students entering their first year of college
• Students interested in vocational schools, e.g. cosmetology, are eligible.
• Legal immigration status is not required.

 What are the application requirements?

• completed application
• high school transcript
• letter from student
• letter of recommendation
• photo

What are the potential scholarship awards?

• Awards are up to $1,000 
• Available for the first year of college only
• Available to students without significant other funds for college

What are the important dates and locations?

• Applications due the last Monday of April (April 28, 2008)
• Required interview on third Saturday in May (May 17, 2008)
• Awardee reception in the fall
• All interviews and receptions held at Ripley House Neighborhood Center
• All scholarship funds disbursed through Ripley House Neighborhood Center
